FirstNet® Subscribers Can Now Access JPS VIA via the FirstNet App Catalog

Raleigh, NC., June 19, 2020 – Following a rigorous review process, JPS VIA is now FirstNet Certified™ and accessible via the FirstNet App Catalog.

JPS VIA is a secure push-to-talk over cellular (PTToC) application that provides 1:1 and 1:N user calling, pre-configured and ad-hoc group calling, text and picture messaging, real-time and historical location, and voice playback features. It seamlessly integrates with JPS interoperability gateways using the industry leading RoIP protocol, offering mobile and radio users the opportunity to share communications across both technologies. Powered by the ESChat platform and available on both Android and iOS platforms, JPS VIA allows users on any mobile platform, wireless carrier, or wireless network access to the same system(s).

FirstNet – America’s public safety communications platform – features the first-ever App Catalog geared to first responders, featuring more than 100 apps relevant to public safety’s mission. This gives FirstNet subscribers a dedicated location to find meaningful new solutions that have been specifically reviewed for use with FirstNet services.

Achieving a FirstNet Certified™ designation means JPS VIA is a heavily vetted and trusted solution for public safety, meeting FirstNet app requirements. Before any mobile solution can be added to the FirstNet App Catalog, it must pass stringent tests for security, relevancy, data privacy and availability. As a FirstNet Certified™ app, JPS VIA has been confirmed to meet those requirements, as well as higher requirements for scalability and resiliency.

“FirstNet Certification underscores the importance JPS places on integrating our RoIP protocol for LMR and mobile connectivity,” stated Roman Kaluta, Customer Advocate and Public Safety Liaison for JPS. “It’s a huge milestone for JPS and for public safety; one that will strengthen first responders’ ability to best serve their communities. We’re proud that JPS VIA has passed the stringent certification process and we are committed to maintaining that certification to ensure that we continue providing our customers with proven, reliable, and certified applications.”

Built with AT&T, in public-private partnership with the First Responder Network Authority, FirstNet is bringing public safety communications into the 21st century with new, innovative capabilities to strengthen first responders’ incident response. And it’s helping them connect to the critical information they need – every day and in every emergency.

“We only add applications to the FirstNet App Catalog that are highly secure, high quality, and relevant to public safety. And we’re pleased that JPS VIA is now Certified and available to FirstNet subscribers,” said Brenda Kittila, FirstNet Operations AT&T. “JPS VIA will bring public safety additional capabilities to enhance interoperable communications, provide situational awareness, and create a common operating picture.”

“Through our work with first responders, we heard their need for innovative applications to assist with their lifesaving mission. FirstNet is helping to address these needs, and we are pleased to welcome JPS VIA to the FirstNet App Catalog,” said Mark Golaszewski, executive director of Technology and Innovation, First Responder Network Authority.
